Ministry of Truth bill advances in Congress

Earlier this week Congress made headway on what might be described as a Ministry of Truth bill.

A measure in the National Defense Authorization Act “calls on the State Department to lead governmentwide efforts to identify propaganda and counter its effects. The authorization is for $160 million over two years,” reports Stars and Stripes.

The bill passed in the House on Wednesday. It will move to the Senate next and, if it passes there, will be presented to the president for his signature.

In March, Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., authored the “Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act.” It was initially intended to combat Russian “propaganda” in Ukraine, Moldova, and Serbia.

The focus changed after the Democrat party said Russian propaganda had an effect on the election and helped Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

“In the wake of this election, it’s pretty clear that the U.S. does not have the tools to combat this massive disinformation machinery that the Russians are running,” said Murphy.

Specifically, the bill will expand the State Department’s Global Engagement Center. The center focuses on “empowering and enabling partners, governmental and non-governmental, who are able to speak out against these [terror] groups and provide an alternative to ISIL’s nihilistic vision,” reports Disinfo.

The government supported center will offer services ranging from planning thematic social media campaigns, to providing factual information that counters disinformation, building capacity for third parties to effectively utilize social media, and research and evaluation writes Harry Henderson.

In other words, the State Department’s Global Engagement Center acts as a Ministry of Truth, the government bureau responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism in George Orwell’s classic novel on totalitarianism, Nineteen-Eighty Four.

The legislation that passed through the House calls for an executive branch effort to combat “Russian manipulation” of the media. It says “active measures” are required to fight against information at odds with what is reported in the United States by the government through the establishment media.

“There is definitely bipartisan concern about the Russian government engaging in covert influence activities of this nature,” said Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “If you read section 501 of this year’s intelligence authorization bill, it directs the President to set up an interagency committee to ‘counter active measures by Russia to exert covert influence over peoples and governments.’ So that shows you that senators from both parties are clearly concerned about Russian covert influence efforts.”

Following Clinton’s defeat, an anonymous group of self-proclaimed “experts” said alternative news websites act as “useful idiots” for the Russians.

The group, PropOrNot, posted a long list of websites it says are dupes for Russian propaganda. The Washington Post gave credence to the unsubstantiated claim when it published a story highlighting the efforts of the anonymous group.

Alternative media website demands retraction by Washington Post after ‘fake news’ story

Naked Capitalism, a website accused of spreading fake news by The Washington Post, has demanded a retraction.

Yves Smith, aka Susan Webber, the editor of the financial news and analysis website, posted on Monday that First Amendment and defamation lawsuit lawyer Jim Moody will represent the website. Moody defended Linda Tripp, who worked in the Pentagon’s public affairs office and secretly recorded Monika Lewinsky.

On December 4, Moody sent a letter to the editor and publisher of the Post demanding the article be retracted and an apology issued. The Post reported Naked Capitalism and dozens of other sites peddle fake news as part of a Russian conspiracy to get Donald Trump elected.

“Fake News contains extremely damaging false allegations constituting defamation,” Moody said in the letter. “You did not provide even a single example of ‘fake news’ allegedly distributed or promoted by Naked Capitalism or indeed any of the 200 sites own the PropOrNot blacklist.”

Smith said in a post on the website that the shadowy group PropOrNot had deceived The Washington Post.

“I also hope, particularly for those of you who don’t regularly visit Naked Capitalism, that you’ll check out our related pieces that give more color to how the fact the Washington Post was taken for a ride by inept propagandists” at the anonymous site, Smith explained.

“If the site is flagrantly false with respect to things that can be checked, why pray tell did [The Washington Post] and its fellow useful idiots in the mainstream media validate and amplify its message? Strong claims demand strong proofs, yet the Post appeared content to give a megaphone to people who make stuff up with abandon. No wonder the members of PropOrNot hide as much as they can about what they are up to; more transparency would expose their work to be a tissue of lies,” Smith added.

U.S. News & World Report stated several news outlets are considering taking legal action against the Post.

“I haven’t had any financial damages yet, so that’s the only reason I haven’t started a libel suit,” the publisher of Blacklisted News, Doug Owen, told U.S. News & World Report.

Mark Allin of Above Top Secret and the editors of Counterpunch said they are keeping their options open. Jeffrey St. Clair said CounterPunch is “exploring our options and digging on our own into the misty background of PropOrNot.”

The Washington Post reported that the executive director of PropOrNot spoke with the paper “on the condition of anonymity to avoid being targeted by Russia’s legions of skilled hackers.”

Journalists are protected from revealing confidential sources under the First Amendment. In addition, courts have ruled reporters are protected under the Second, Third, Fifth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh amendments.

Leftist conspiracy theory collapses as Julian Assange confirms Russia not involved in Wikileaks dumps

Ever since the corruption of the Regressive Left was revealed with undeniable proof through the Wikileaks email hacks, the leftist apologists have been doing everything within their power to discredit them as being legitimate. Of course, anyone who knows anything can tell that there is some serious deception afoot — and it’s not on behalf of Wikileaks.

After trying to claim that the emails were not real, the leftists ultimately realized that this was never going to fool anyone, so they moved on to a different strategy. This one didn’t work out so well either. Since they seem to fear Russia, the Democratic Party decided to claim that the Wikileaks emails were a result of the Russian government hacking into American servers. By making this false claim, the leftists seemed to hope that people would avoid reading the information released through Wikileaks in support of America.

Unfortunately, nobody was buying what they were selling, and anyone looking to stay informed about the current state of American politics was sifting through the emails diligently. But for those who bought into the narrative that Russia was responsible for the hacks, there is now evidence to prove that they were not — much to the disappointment of the Democratic Party and especially the Clinton campaign.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange recently revealed that Russia was not involved in the email hacks. Not at all.

Even the mainstream media outlets couldn’t deny the truth. John Bacon of USA Today states, “Normally Wikileaks reveals no information on sources, but [Julian Assange] said he felt compelled to rule out ‘any state’ as the source of the Podesta leaks. Russian officials also have denied any connection to the leaks. He said he was confident that eliminating governments as the source of the leak would not jeopardize the true source of the leaks.”

It’s likely that the the information came from an individual or a small group of people that simply want the corruption and dangerous nature of the Democratic Party to be widely known and publicized. The American people — and people all across the world — are tired of feeling like their voices are not being heard. We are tired of feeling as though there is a ruling class in this country that doesn’t care about us until election season comes along.

We are fed up with all of the corruption that politicians in this country get away with, so it’s no surprise that people are revolting in ways never seen before. It’s not the Russian government — it’s the disenfranchised public.

Hillary Clinton claims Putin is trying to hack election

Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton may have come to a realization: She’s not going to beat Republican nominee Donald J. Trump in November, so she’s come up with a whacky conspiracy to blame it on: Russian President Vladmir Putin.

As reported by Breitbart News, Clinton herself recently claimed that Putin was orchestrating a series of hacks against her campaign and the Democratic National Committee because he is trying to help Trump win.

Asked about various reports that have suggested Russian hackers were attempting to break into voter registration and other related systems in the U.S. during an interview with ABC’s David Muir, Clinton said “there is no doubt in my mind” that “there is something going on” with Putin. She further hinted that the Kremlin was planning to hack the November election.

“Every American should be concerned about Russia doing anything to try to tilt and influence our election,” she continued, claiming to cite U.S. intelligence as proof that Moscow was behind the DNC hack, at least. “Voters should be concerned about this.”

She went on to theorize that Putin has essentially admitted he is trying to influence the outcome of the U.S. election by hacking into our voting systems. She said she found it “troubling” but “revealing” that when Putin was asked about it recently during a press interview he did not actually deny it, saying that it was a good thing the information got out. She added that her past dealings with Putin led her to take that as “an admission.”

But Putin did deny that his government had anything to do with the hacks. In an interview with Bloomberg News, he said specifically he didn’t “know anything about it” and that “on a state level,” his government has never done anything like that.

Clinton then tried to tie Trump to Putin and in a close, personal way, saying the Russian leader prefers her GOP rival. She cited “close relationships” with those in Trump’s inner circle, “all the way up to Putin himself.”

For his part, Trump has said he respects the Russian leader, but his campaign has adamantly denied that the billionaire business mogul has any dealings with the Russian government at the present time. In 2008, though, the Washington Post reported that Trump’s son, Donald Jr., told a real estate conference that Russians “make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.”

Still, there is no proof that a) Russia is trying to throw the U.S. elections against Clinton; b) that Putin favors Trump over Clinton; or c) that the Democratic candidate’s goofy conspiracy theory is premised in reality.

It is more likely the product of a desperate and compromised presidential candidate who sees herself losing in November.

Hillary Clinton

Hillary is the candidate of treason: Ties to Russia, Qatar, and Libya revealed

There isn’t much about Hillary Clinton that isn’t tainted, co-opted or politically compromised. Indeed, she may well be the most corrupt presidential candidate in the history of our country.

One of her campaign’s main arguments to voters is that she is imminently more qualified that GOP presidential nominee Donald J. Trump because of her vast experience as a first lady, a U.S. senator and, most recently, as the Obama administration’s secretary of state.

What she appears to have the most experience in is feathering her own next and helping our enemies gain strategic advantages over us.

First, the Libyan connection.

As reported former judge and Fox News contributor Andrew Napolitano, the Democratic nominee for president has a lot to answer for over her role as facilitator arms to Libyan jihadists.

“To pursue her goal of a ‘democratic’ government there, Clinton, along with Obama and a dozen or so members of Congress from both houses and both political parties, decided she should break the law by permitting U.S. arms dealers to violate the U.N. arms embargo and arm Libyan rebels whom she hoped would one day run the new government,” Napolitano wrote. “So she exercised her authority as secretary of state to authorize the shipment of American-made arms to Qatar, a country beholden to the Muslim Brotherhood and friendly to the Libyan rebels and a country the U.S. had no business arming—unless the purpose of doing so was for the arms to be transferred to the rebels.”

There is evidence to suggest Napolitano’s assertions are true. Memos that were uncovered from the burned American compound in Benghazi and obtained by the Washington Times reveal that U.S. diplomats there were tracking a number of potential U.S.-sanctioned weapons shipments that were ostensibly aimed at arming allies. But at least one of those shipments were sent to the Transitional National Council, a Libyan rebel movement that sought to overthrow leader Moamar Gadafi. And while that shipment appears to have been canceled, a career CIA officer, David Manners, told Fox News in 2015 that the shipment of thousands of rocket launchers and machine guns, as well as millions of rounds of ammunition, did eventually make it to the council – despite a ban on shipping weapons to Libya at the time.

In testimony before the House Select Committee on Benghazi Oct. 22, 2015, Clinton [allegedly] lied under oath and said no such shipments took place.

Next, Clinton – as secretary of state – was also duplicitous in allowing Russia to gain control of one-fifth of all U.S. uranium supplies, a mineral of such strategic importance because of its use in nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. As reported by The New York Times and revealed in the recently released documentary, “Clinton Cash,” both Hillary and Bill Clinton were complicit. For both, their complicity began in 2009, shortly after Hillary took over the State Department.

At the center of the deal are a number of men who are leaders of the Canadian mining industry, all of whom have been major donors to the Clinton Foundation and its various charities. The group’s members built, financed and eventually sold to the Russians a company called Uranium One.

Because uranium is such a strategic asset, the deal had to be approved by a committee comprised of representatives from several U.S. government agencies. Among those that eventually green-lighted the sale was Hillary Clinton’s State Department.

As the Russians gained control of Uranium one in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, according to Canadian records, cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation – to the tune of $2.35 million, donations that were not public disclosed by the Clintons, though Hillary had struck a deal with the White House to make sure all donors were made public.

Shortly after the Russians announced they wanted to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Bill Clinton received a $500,000 check to give a speech in Moscow from a Russian investment bank with links to the government, which was also promoting Uranium One stock.

Promises made to ensure to ease concerns over the deal were repeatedly broken, the Times reported.
