Collusion: DEA bans plant medicines, then Big Pharma patents them for profits

Is the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) really looking out for anyone’s best interests with their latest stand on natural, medicinal plants like cannabis and kratom? Most would tend to disagree with them, just on principle. But a deeper look into the matter reveals that their intent may be far more sinister than they want us to believe.

While the DEA consistently maintains that these plants work against the greater good, there are clearly a lot of questions about the agency’s integrity – especially when Big Pharma is involved.

Marijuana and THC – a well-known cannabinoid compound – are both illegal. And yet, as The Free Thought Project pointed out back in September, Big Pharma companies mass-produce and sell synthetic THC formulations, such as Marinol. Marinol is the brand name for dronabinol – the new name that the Big Pharma executives give to THC after it’s been synthesized in a lab. Marinol’s own website notes that THC is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis. However, as Paul Armentano – the senior policy analyst for the marijuana legislation reform group NORML – notes, Marinol lacks many of the natural therapeutic compounds that are present in the cannabis plant. And because Marinol’s sole active ingredient is synthetic THC, and it’s taken orally, the psychoactive effects tend to be much stronger (and even problematic for some) compared to traditional cannabis. CBD, another beneficial compound, tends to help counteract the psychoactive effects of THC, and without it, you’re in for a whole different kind of ride.

Regardless of how one feels about Marinol and the fact that it offers only limited relief to patients in comparison to the plant it’s modeled after, it is exceedingly hypocritical of the FDA to approve of it while the DEA continues to prosecute marijuana to the fullest extent. It’s not just being blind to the facts or refusing to believe a plant could be medicinal; its outright sabotage at this point. The federal government has literally allowed Big Pharma to create medicine derived from the plant, and then made the plant itself illegal. It is simply mind-boggling how they can rationalize and justify such despicable behavior.

The DEA’s recent statement on kratom underlines the extreme lengths to which they will go to continue to assert that they are in the right, even if only to themselves. The agency filed a notice of intent declaring that they would “temporarily schedule the opioids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, which are the main active constituents of the plant kratom, into schedule I pursuant to the temporary scheduling provisions of the Controlled Substances Act.” The notice then explained, “This action is based on a finding by the Administrator that the placement of these opioids into schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to the public safety.”

As is typical of bureaucratic agencies, the notice of intent continued in a similar fashion with its convoluted explanation.

And, of course, three synthetic opioids have been synthesized from the kratom plant, namely MGM-9, MGM-15 and MGM-16. Unsurprisingly, these three synthetics were developed from the kratom alkaloids, Mitragynine and 7-Hydroxymitragynine – you know, the ones named by the DEA as an “imminent hazard to public safety.”

If these compounds are so dangerous, why on earth would Big Pharma be synthesizing them to make medicine? It just doesn’t seem to add up, but the federal agency continues to go along with their story of supposed danger to society, hoping we’ll all fall for it. It really tells you all you need to know about the DEA and their relationship with Big Pharma though, doesn’t it?

OUTRAGE: Medical marijuana cardholders barred from gun purchases

Usually when the federal government attempts to take away the freedoms of the American public, they do so one at a time, as to not draw too much attention to the fact that they are infringing on our rights as both human beings and as American citizens.

Every once in a while, though, they go full fascist, attempting to suppress multiple freedoms at once.

Thus is the case for the justices for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, who recently ruled that medical marijuana patients are not allowed to purchase firearms due to the fact that marijuana remains a Schedule I substance under federal law thanks to the corrupt DEA.

Just when it seemed as though the federal government had reached peak insanity in regards to their regulations, both cannabis and the Second Amendment are under attack at the same time, in the same court case.

In a discussion following the ruling, NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano stated, “There is no credible justification for a ‘marijuana exception’ to the US Constitution. Responsible adults who use cannabis in a manner that is compliant with the laws of their states ought to receive the same legal rights and protections as do other citizens.” It’s difficult to disagree with him.

It’s absolute madness that cannabis users — especially those who are using medical marijuana for health purposes — are not allowed to purchase firearms. This is a complete infringement of the Second Amendment that continues to treat gun owners like second-class citizens.

This absurd ruling serves as yet another example of the federal government attempting to completely enslave the American public. They know that there’s nothing even remotely harmful about marijuana. The fact that the plant has been considered as a legitimate medical cure by thousands of reputable sources proves this. Those who are fighting to keep it illegal are simply trying to accumulate more money for themselves.

It’s time that we elect politicians that are educated on the numerous health benefits of cannabis, while simultaneously getting rid of the closed-minded, Pharma-controlled sheep that fight to keep it criminalized. We’re onto their game and the easiest way to send a message is with our votes.

Nate Diaz

MMA fighter Nate Diaz targeted, possibly penalized for using CBD oil

Shortly after losing a controversial majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202, welterweight MMA fighter Nate Diaz began his recovery process by smoking out of a vape pen that was filled with CBD oil — in front of a group of reporters at his post-fight press conference.

For Nate Diaz, a man who takes pride on his ability to keep it real, there was no more appropriate way to keep it real than that.

When asked by a reporter why he was smoking CBD oil, Diaz responded, “It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. You want to get these before and after a fight, training. It’ll make your life a better place.” Considering the fact that Diaz had spent 25 minutes prior exchanging punches to the face with the notoriously heavy-handed McGregor, ingesting cannabis was likely an excellent decision for his health.

But, unfortunately, it seems as though the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) may be looking to punish Diaz, even though he did absolutely nothing wrong. He didn’t even break the rules USADA had in place. Since marijuana isn’t considered illegal when used out of competition — and since Nate had already taken his post-fight drug test — there’s no logical reason for the organization to look to punish him.

Unfortunately, logic isn’t necessary when it comes to groups trying to demonize cannabis.

This isn’t the first time a Diaz has been in hot water with athletic commissions over marijuana, either. Nate’s brother, Nick, a former world champion was recently in a high-profile spat with the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) after they wrongly suspended him for failing an in-competition test for marijuana.

The notoriously polarizing duo have been immensely outspoken about the benefits of smoking cannabis and incorporating it into their training regimen. In addition to their organic, mostly vegan diets, the brothers’ adoration of marijuana has elevated them to becoming cult heroes among both MMA fans and cannabis supporters.

If USADA makes the mistake of actually trying to penalize Diaz for his actions, they will be opening up a Pandora’s box that they are certainly unprepared for.

alcohol

Alcohol is 114 times more likely to kill you than cannabis

Anyone who has even attempted to educate themselves on the actual effects of cannabis should be well aware that it is not only completely safe, it also boasts numerous health benefits. If you name an ailment, there is a decent chance that marijuana can aid, if not completely cure, the illness. As a result, there’s no doubt that consuming marijuana is significantly safer than consuming alcohol.

Just how much safer, though, may surprise you.

According to a study conducted by the journal Scientific Reports, alcohol is an astounding 114 times more likely to kill you than marijuana. Since alcohol is statistically the most dangerous drug on the market and marijuana is the safest, this should be expected, but seeing the hard data confirmed is a victory for cannabis supporters across the United States. For years we’ve been telling the mainstream media of the plant’s endless benefits and have generally been disregarded. Now it seems as though they’re finally coming around.

Yet, marijuana remains illegal while it’s difficult to find a street in America where you can’t purchase a truckload of alcoholic beverages. This is obviously the case because the alcohol industry and the federal government are in cahoots together, and they both see a clear threat in cannabis. There’s little doubt that the legalization of marijuana would cause many alcohol users to transition over to the natural health alternative, and they know the only way to prevent that from happening is by keeping cannabis outlawed.

It’s a shady, immoral tactic, but it’s nothing new when it comes to the federal government. They’ve been using tactics like this for decades.

For America to live up to its “Land of the Free” moniker, it absolutely must legalize cannabis on a federal level — and soon. It’s long overdue that our country catch up with other, civilized countries in regards to individual freedoms, and the widespread acceptance of marijuana is a major factor in that.

The DEA turns its back on freedom; refuses to reschedule cannabis, claims it’s worse than METH

In a mind-boggling decision that proves, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is horrifically corrupt, the organization has once again refused to reschedule cannabis from a Schedule I drug, despite having zero logical reasons not to do so.

With this decision, the DEA is essentially claiming that marijuana is even more harmful than crystal meth, which is still a Schedule II drug. To put it into perspective, heroin is also a Schedule I drug. The DEA wants the American public to believe that cannabis is as harmful as heroin. How many lives do you know that have been destroyed by marijuana? Any?

This decision is truly remarkable in all the wrong ways. Thanks to the expansion of the internet — where all sorts of information is readily available at our fingertips — and the awakening of the American people, we’ve known for years that not only is cannabis not harmful, it’s actually filled with seemingly endless health benefits.

Hemp is another plant that is strictly regulated; getting a permit to grow it is a long shot. But, hemp products are still legal, and can also help to support health. That’s why the Health Ranger and Native Hemp Solutions have decided to partner up and provide us with a hemp extract that is lab-validated for 100 percent authenticty. Mike Adams’ CWC Labs tests and verifies the CBD content of these extracts to ensure accuracy.

Unfortunately, the legality and efficacy of marijuana is still up for debate, at least in the eyes of the DEA.

Vox reports, “This isn’t the first time the DEA refused to reschedule marijuana — and this time, it seems to have used the exact same reasoning it used several times over the past few decades: There’s not enough evidence that pot has medical value.”

But that is egregiously false. Whether preventing seizures, fighting cancer, relieving asthma, or another one of the plant’s countless uses, marijuana improves the quality of life for everyone that ingests it. Even those who smoke cannabis recreationally — the people that the DEA claims to be worried about — will still receive the health benefits.

This has all been proven and is basically common knowledge at this point.

It’s time to change the way federal government officials treat marijuana. It’s infinitely more trustworthy, healthy, important and likable than they are anyway.

And unlike them, it won’t kill you.

Pharma-peddling supermarket chain Publix throws $800K to fight against medicinal marijuana

What can be said about the corporate collusion to prevent the legalization of marijuana that hasn’t already been said time and time again?

Us logical, educated folks have been extremely outspoken regarding the complete ridiculousness of cannabis criminalization — frequently listing facts and statistics to back up our claims about the health and economic benefits that marijuana has — but the powers that be refuse to listen. Lining their pockets with dirty money is much more attractive to them than helping out the American people at large. But that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

They continue to wage war on logic and nature.

Recently, the trust of Carol Jenkins Barnett — who just so happens to be the daughter of Publix founder George W. Jenkins — recently donated $800,000 to the anti-legalization group Drug Free Florida. This is important for a number of reasons.

For starters, Miami New Times exposed Publix’s connection to both the Florida Medical Association (FMA) and PhRMA, reporting, “It appears that PhRMA and the FMA have shared PR firms on at least one occasion and that the FMA has historically maintained an entire lobbying wing dedicated to ‘Pharmaceutical Corporate Affairs.'”

In regards to Drug Free Florida, not only is the group opposed to the legalization of recreational marijuana, they also want to destroy medical marijuana. This is especially disgusting, considering how many illnesses can be cured and relieved by the medicinal elements of the plant. But Publix — on their Pharma-fueled high horse — will continue to ignore these facts. Instead, they’ll push the narrative that legalizing medicinal marijuana usage will lead to recreational usage, which, in turn, will lead to a complete collapse of society.

Seriously. That’s what these corrupt individuals are trying to do. Like the villains in a children’s cartoon, they’re so absurdly maniacal that it’s almost hard to believe that it’s all for real. It should be a joke, but it’s sadly the honest truth. They’re willing to let people suffer and even die in order to line their pockets with more money — and they’re all teaming up together.

As heartbreaking as that is, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise anymore. Money is what fuels all of these corporations — that’s how they end up joining forces with Big Pharma in the first place.
